Southern Scopes & Services is a fully licensed and bonded public adjusting firm dedicated to serving clients throughout the states of Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. Our company was founded by Mr. Longtin in 2021 after working multiple catastrophes including Hurricane Michael, Sally, and Ida; assisting contractors and homeowners. During this experience Mr. Longtin learned how valuable a good Public Adjuster can be. Mr. Longtin brought his extensive construction experience, claims knowledge, and applied it to helping contractors dealing with insurance claims. Being located southeastern United States, we recognized the need to better prepare our veterans and neighbors for the challenges they may face before and after a catastrophe strikes. Having worked with contractors and different public adjusting firms, we knew there had to be a better way. A way that puts the clients' needs first and prepares them for any unforeseen event.
Mr. Longtin’s background starts with starting his first job at 12 years old cleaning up a cabinet shop. He had multiple typical “entry level” jobs prior to Joining the United States Marine Corps at 17. After spending 5 years in the Corps; Mr. Longtin decided to try the educational route for a few years obtaining an AS degree along with the Technical Certification from MMI to work on boats.

Southern Scopes & Services LLC
I am a licensed Public Adjuster with Southern Scopes & Services LLC, representing
policyholders throughout Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina in residential property
insurance claims.
I am married with four children, which gives me firsthand understanding of the stress, disruption,
and financial pressure families face when an insurance claim is mishandled. When time, stability,
and a home are on the line, fairness is not optional. That perspective drives how I advocate for
my clients every day.
I am a graduate of Auburndale High School and was heavily involved in athletics throughout
that time, competing alongside my counterpart and Head of the Firm, Richard Longtin. I
attended some college before entering the workforce full-time. Stepping away from competitive
sports did not lessen my drive for excellence; instead, it reinforced a mindset built on discipline,
accountability, and resilience—principles that guide how I conduct myself professionally and
how I approach every claim.
My background is diverse and hands-on. I am dive certified with field experience, have EMT
experience, and spent 15 years with Publix, retiring from a role rooted in mechanical
engineering principles. That technical foundation sharpened my ability to evaluate damage,
building systems, and scope accuracy with precision—skills that translate directly to complex
property claims.
Before becoming a public adjuster, I worked on the carrier-aligned side of the industry,
writing estimates for firms whose interests were tied to insurance companies. While the
experience was valuable, it became clear that the environment conflicted with the kind of
adjuster I wanted to be. I was not there to rubber-stamp outcomes—I was there to get it right.
I joined Southern Scopes & Services part-time as an Independent Adjuster and quickly
recognized the professional growth and ethical alignment I had been missing. After passing the
state Public Adjuster examination, I committed fully to assisting property owners across Florida,
Georgia, and South Carolina.Since joining the firm, I have closed multiple large-loss claims, played a direct role in
expanding the Georgia market, and currently work alongside multiple large contractors in
Georgia as their trusted Public Adjuster. Results matter—and those results are achieved
through disciplined documentation, code compliance, and accountability, not shortcuts.
I also handle appraisal matters for clients the firm does not directly represent, including
policyholders working with other public adjusters and attorneys. This work requires
independence, precision, and credibility—especially when outcomes are closely scrutinized.
Some of my most meaningful work involves navigating state complaint and regulatory
processes to address improper claims handling. I operate by a clear principle: take the pressure
to the carrier, not the client. I do not accept the bare minimum, and I do not ignore conduct that
lacks integrity. Accountability is not optional—it is the standard.
